Great headlines almost daily about the record number of women running for office across the country. But that won’t translate into political parity in the near future. Yes, women will gain more seats at the state and national level this November. But men will remain the majority of our elected officials. While tempering expectations for 2018, and 2020, each election could move the needle closer to giving women a representative share of the seats of power. For women of color, who also are running in record numbers this year, the road to reach parity will take even longer due to the historic lack of representation.
